Abstract
This study assessed the effectiveness of radio anti-smoking campaigns in Oyo State. A survey
design and interview schedule were adopted for the study, and data were gathered through the use
of a questionnaire and interview schedule guide. Three-hundred and eighty-four copies of the
questionnaire were administered to the respondents, who were selected through a multi-stage

warned that they could die young, and that packet warnings were very effective in increasing
cessation behaviour among smokers. To check covert and overt advertisements of brands of
cigarette products on the radio, an implementation of Framework Convention on Tobacco Control
should be implemented. Taxation, as prescribed in the Framework Convention on Tobacco Control,
